Julius Kay, a chemist with a love for animals, began making nutritional supplements for his own dogs. The formulas proved so promising that he marketed them to pet shops in 1948. Kay teamed up with Dr. Lambertson, a man with manufacturing capability, to form Lambert Kay. LINATONE® Food Supplement, THERALIN® Vitamins and Minerals, AVITRON® Bird Vitamins, and a number of pet health care products formed the line. Fish and small animal products were also developed. Distribution expanded nationwide as LINATONE® became a leading pet shop item.
